Katherine Cole lives in a 1914 Craftsman home in Portland, Oregon, surrounded by remarkable restaurants and a short drive from gorgeous Willamette Valley wine country. Her greatest achievement to date—a joint collaboration with her husband, Pete—has been the production of Caroline (“Cece”) Cole, vintage 2004.
Katherine holds degrees from Harvard College and the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. She has studied with the International Sommelier Guild and taught journalism courses at Portland State University. Before moving to Portland, she worked as a magazine editor in Chicago, wrote for four travel guides and, long ago, interned at The Atlantic Monthly.
Favorite activities—apart from spending time with her family and drinking wine—include backcountry skiing, upland game hunting, fly fishing, yoga, cycling and hiking (perhaps picking a few chanterelles along the way). When she isn’t in Portland, you can find Katherine on Oregon’s Deschutes River, Washington's Whidbey Island or on the Big Hole River in Montana.
